Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation - childhood / primary education
Lady Nancy Fairfax was born in England in 1916 and following the completion of her schooling was involved with voluntary work with children and in schools. Travelling to Australia in 1937 she met her husband to be, Vincent, and they were married in London in 1939. Relocating to Australia in 1939 and having four children in the 1940’s Lady Nancy took on a busy public life including editor of the ‘Countrywomen Journal’, a volunteer with the Red Cross, Patron of the Foundation of Aged Care and the Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund. She was always an energetic advocate for the value of early childhood education and the needs of children in general. The Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation established the Nancy Fairfax Churchill Fellowship to honour their Patron who had served the Foundation for over 45 years. Lady Nancy passed away in 2007.
