William Gallaugher

William Gallaugher was born in Ireland and was a doctor of medicine. He married Sybella (Sybil) Rankin from Queensland and moved to and retired in Tasmania in 1956 becoming a prominent Tasmanian citizen. William passed away in 1969 and was survived by Sybil until 1974. Upon her death their Estate was bequeathed to the Churchill Trust. For award to residents of Tasmania only.


Title of Fellowship

Gallaugher Bequest Churchill Fellowship to improve educational facilities for younger people. (Education in its broadest sense, not postgraduate studies). Established in 1988.
