Key audience

  • People who are established in their industry/sector or topic, who may have been grappling with a problem, or identified an opportunity. They have exhausted the knowledge within Australia, are open to exploring global best practice, and keen to share what they learn with their community when they return.

Key facts

  • Churchill Fellowships are a chance to travel and study best practice in an industry/field of interest, and then apply the new knowledge or skills for the benefit of the community on return to Australia.
  • Australian citizens and permanent residents over the age of 18 years, from any industry, background or location are eligible to apply. (No academic qualification is necessary).
  • Deadlines: Applications open 27 February 2026 and close Thursday 5pm, 30 April 2026.

Each year, Australians from every sector, industry and community are invited to take a bold step — to explore a question, challenge a system, investigate global best practice, and bring practical solutions home.

Churchill Fellowships are a unique chance to travel overseas for four to eight weeks, investigate global best practice, and apply your new knowledge and skills in your community when you return.

For example…

Bernadette Black AM CF (2024), has continued championing a whole-of-community approach to early intervention and prevention.

Through national advocacy and leadership, she is advancing the vision of Australia becoming a true “prevention nation,” translating global insights into practical, systemic reforms that protect children and strengthen families for the future.

Short Messaging

Our message this year is simple: Be bold. Have courage. Back yourself.

If you have an idea that could strengthen your field, your community or Australia more broadly — this could be your opportunity.

Take the first step and ask yourself – is this my year to apply
