I am a passionate and dedicated suicide prevention leader, driven by the belief that every life matters and no community should be left behind. I hold that suicide is not always inevitable — with the right systems, culturally grounded support, and community leadership, lives can be saved.
I have led regional suicide prevention strategy within one of Australia’s largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. I also serve as Deputy Chair of the Mental Health Association of Central Australia (MHACA) and am a member of the Northern Territory Committee and Policy Advisory Committee for Suicide Prevention Australia.
I have a Master of Suicidology from Griffith University, my research focuses on the needs of Aboriginal communities after a suicide, shaped and informed by lived experience. Through co-design, community-led research, and my work in Central Australia, I have highlighted what is required to deliver effective and compassionate care to those impacted by suicide.
I have worked across the continuum of suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention, with a strong focus on culturally safe, community-led responses. A defining moment came when I relocated from New South Wales to Central Australia — a challenging and transformative move. Living and working in Alice Springs, I witnessed the urgent need for action in remote Aboriginal communities during suicidal crises. This experience strengthened my resolve and reaffirmed my belief that Aboriginal voices, cultural knowledge, and community strengths must sit at the heart of suicide prevention efforts.
My vision is to strengthen the capacity of remote Aboriginal communities to respond to suicide crises, reducing suicide attempts and deaths by ensuring every person has access to timely, culturally safe, community-led crisis response, aftercare, and healing support. While many solutions already exist within communities, my role is to help bring them to life. My Fellowship will allow me to explore Indigenous-led suicide prevention models overseas to strengthen early intervention and community-led responses in remote Aboriginal communities.
