Worsening extreme weather events, driven by a changing climate, are compounding the vulnerability of communities, undermining global security and disrupting financial systems. Alix is an award-winning campaigner and policy advocate who has committed her career to tackling this challenge, leading teams across civil society and financial services to successfully accelerate Australia’s trajectory to net zero and strengthen national resilience.
Alix currently heads the $60b Australian general insurance industry’s climate and social policy team, drawing on the industry’s critical role in the economy to drive down climate risk and better protect communities. She has a history of building unique alliances to drive change, her career has seen her work with global security leaders, first-responders, front-line communities, consumer groups, major companies and all tiers of government. She is also a published author, working with Australia’s premier climate experts, economists and policy analysts on landmark reports that have shifted the national conversation.
As the Head of Campaigns for the Climate Council, Alix led the organisation's advocacy and government relations team, focused on driving down emissions this decade. As the Director of Policy and Campaigns for the Consumer Action Law Centre, she led a team of policy professionals, campaigners and communicators in the wake of the Banking Royal Commission. She also worked as the Founder and Director of the Cities Power Partnership, the biggest climate and energy program for cities in the country.
Alix’s leadership and work has been recognised with numerous awards, including Campaigner of the year at the 2018 Third Sector awards and the 2023 Asia Insurance Sustainability Award. She also serves as a Board Director for Not-For-Profit Global Voices.
