Andrea is a lawyer, researcher and consultant.

Andrea was admitted to legal practice in 1996 after completing a Bachelor of Arts and Laws (Honours) from the TC Beirne School of Law at The University of Queensland.

Her diverse industry experience comprises governance, human rights, commercial and community law. She possesses a unique combination of skills in innovation, program and legal design, research, education, communication, litigation, law reform and process improvement.

For over a decade Andrea was a clinical legal educator at a community legal centre and in that role designed the “A2J & Innovation” clinic, the first of its kind in Queensland to practically examine how digital innovation could assist the community legal sector and self-represented litigants.

As a researcher with the TC Beirne School of Law, she undertook empirical research about the benefits and challenges of using technology to deliver legal services and is currently investigating Queensland lawyers’ capability to meet disruption.

As a consultant to law firms and legal technology companies, Andrea provides strategic and practical advice to legal technology companies and law firms about digital innovation and legal design including how to implement human-centred digital solutions.

At QUT Law she teaches students about the practical applications and ethical implications of incorporating technology in legal practice.

Andrea is the Queensland Law Society ("QLS") 2019 Innovation in Law Award recipient, a member of QLS Innovation Committee and the Australian Legal Technology Association ("ALTA"). She mentors law students including at events such as “Disrupting Law” and takes any opportunity to speak on topics regarding law, innovation and justice, the themes of the podcast she hosts, “Reimagining Justice”.

Andrea aims to have positive social impact through collaboration, persistence and service innovation and believes creativity is an important skill for all professionals including lawyers.
