Cameron Appleton-Seymour

Cameron Appleton-Seymour is a Brisbane based bagpiper who is working passionately to ensure the Australian community has the best educational practices and opportunities to learn the bagpipes.

Cameron has over 16 years experience playing the bagpipes, and five years experience as a professional tutor for learners of all ages. He has also obtained a Bachelors Degree in Creative Industries (Music and Sound Production), ensuring his music knowledge is correctly informed and well rounded.

His bagpiping journey began with lessons at age 7, bagpiping has been an integral part of his life ever since. Led by this passion, Cameron has had many opportunities to play his bagpipes both nationally and internationally, from performing on stage with Paul McCartney, to competing in the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland.

Professionally, Cameron performs with the Queensland Police Pipes and Drums who recently won the Grade 3 competition at the Queensland Championships. Cameron is the head tutor of the Police Juvenile Pipe Band where he fosters the skills and confidence of young pipers and led them to winning the 2023 Australian Juvenile Championships. Additionally, he is a member of the Emmanuel Highlanders Pipe Band who recently won the Grade 2 competition at the Australian National Championships.

When he is not playing, he is active in all endeavours that promote Australian bagpiping. He is a board member of the QLD Piping Society and Pipe Major of the Redlands Sporting Club band, a social community group who welcomes new learners. 

He is driven to create opportunities for the development of pipers and encourage the community to get involved with the instrument. Cameron aims to develop a sustainable bagpiping practice within Australia, to ensure the craft remains accessible for generations to come and that each piper and pipe band can reach their full potential.
