A Fellow of the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen, Carolyn was a major prizewinner at the 2012 Emmerich Kálmán International Operetta Conducting Competition in Budapest and has conducted throughout Europe. She has participated in master classes with Marin Alsop, Peter Eötvös and Yoel Levi and conducted musicians of the Berlin Philharmonic in Interaktion. She has assisted conductors including Sir Charles Mackerras, Simone Young and Karen Kamensek. Carolyn is the recipient of the Brian Stacey Award for Emerging Australian Conductors, Charles Mackerras Conducting Prize and Opera Foundation Australia’s Bayreuth Opera Award. She holds a PhD in Performance (Conducting) from the University of Sydney where her doctoral thesis was 'Gesture as Communication: The Art of Carlos Kleiber.' Carolyn is currently Director of Orchestral Studies at Texas State University and enjoys an active international freelance career. From 2013-15 she held the prestigious position of Conductor of the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra.
