From my earliest years, I have been captivated by stories of humanity coming together to build compassionate and connected communities. I believe that people deserve to be seen and supported through all seasons.
I am inspired by stories of human resilience and have been honoured to witness countless such testimonies across the span of two decades of nursing.
My nursing journey began, aged 17 in Nepal, where I was profoundly moved by an interaction with a patient at a leprosy clinic, a woman who spoke of the transformative power of compassionate community in shaping a future marked by renewed dignity and purpose.
Since then, I have pursued travel and work across a variety of landscapes and cultures. From remote and regional Australia, to over 50 countries, these experiences have helped shape a worldview of collective humanity and reinforced my belief in the importance of community, compassion and creativity to overall wellbeing.
In my work as a trauma nurse, I have the honour of journeying alongside people affected by major injury, where every day I am inspired by survivors rebuilding lives, identities and a renewed sense of purpose in the aftermath of trauma. Through this work, I have come to understand the transformative power of holistic, integrative and survivor-informed support that builds recovery beyond physical healing, and the necessity for service growth to meet these needs.
Through my Churchill Fellowship, I hope to learn from leading international models of trauma recovery and help shape a collaborative approach to survivor support in Australia.
My vision is to see advancement in this service area, to foster connection, empowerment and hope after injury, and to contribute to a future where everyone has the opportunity not only to recover, but to lead a meaningful and fulfilling life beyond traumatic injury.
