I am a proud Aboriginal man with cultural connections to the Walbunga, Waddi Waddi, and Narungga peoples. Raised in the small Aboriginal community of Wreck Bay within Booderee National Park, I have long been passionate about the wellbeing of Country, community empowerment, land management, and Indigenous self-determination.
I am the Park Manager of Booderee National Park (Parks Australia)—an Aboriginal-owned national park jointly managed between the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council and the Director of National Parks. In this role, I lead a multidisciplinary team in conserving the park’s unique biodiversity, embedding Indigenous land management practices, and strengthening the governance partnership between Traditional Owners and the Commonwealth. My leadership has led to significant achievements in cultural heritage protection, threatened species recovery, and community-led tourism development.
As a committed community leader, I have served on the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council Executive Committee and am currently the Chair of the Vincentia High School Indigenous Community Advisory Group. These roles reflect my belief that strong governance and cultural integrity are central to the health and prosperity of Indigenous communities.
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact, and I am currently completing a Master of Business Administration (Social Impact) at the University of New South Wales. My academic journey complements my professional work, equipping me with strategic and governance skills to enhance Indigenous-led land management and community development.
My project explores Indigenous-led co-management of national parks, focusing on integrating traditional ecological knowledge, governance systems, and self-determination into park management frameworks. By learning from Indigenous communities and nations worldwide who have made significant strides in these areas, I aim to strengthen co-management models in Australia for the benefit of both Country and community.
