Jamal Elsheikh believes sport has the intrinsic power to transform the lives of young people and unify communities.
Elsheikh has co-founded Reflect Forward to fight racism in Australian schools, sports and local communities and was recognised by local and global media networks such as ABC & BBC. Since then, Jamal has partnered with many major national sporting organisations including Cricket Australia, Australian Cricketers’ Association, Professional Footballers Australia and others.
Jamal is an Executive Director, Experienced Advisor, Certified Board member and award-winning Social Innovator. He has extensive experience in creating successful social impact programs and partnerships. Jamal’s interest in the social innovation space developed from growing up as a third culture kid in over 10 countries. Today, he advises leading organizations such as Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria (ECCV). He is also recognised as a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum and was named as one of the 50 most inspiring African Australians of 2019 and in 2024 he was named as an Australian of the Year Finalist (Victoria Local’s Hero).
In addition, Jamal has won multiple awards and secured funding and recognition for his projects and initiatives from reputable organizations including The Myer Foundation, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Monash University and ygap Australia. In 2020, Jamal was recognized as a Kindness Hero by the ABC Radio and Television Network through a short documentary highlighting his impact in schools and young people’s lives. Moreover, he is also a contributor to the media and government on topics related to race relations and racism.
Jamal holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Monash University and an Honours Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechatronics Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University. Upon being awarded a studentship from Cambridge University to study Master of Studies (MSt) in Social Innovation in the United Kingdom, Jamal’s current focus is on scaling his award-winning programs globally.
