A common thread throughout my professional journey is building consensus by bringing together people who see the world differently. My path in cross-cultural decision-making and leadership has been shaped alongside Aboriginal leaders across the Northern Territory—learning with Warlpiri leaders in Yuendumu to establish a family mediation program, and with Yolŋu leaders in Galiwin'ku to navigate difficult conversations toward solutions. These formative experiences demonstrated how respect, shared ownership, and facilitated dialogue bridge divides to turn conflict into collaboration.
I have dedicated over 20 years to public service in the Northern Territory across local government, housing delivery, and strategic land use planning and development. Currently, as an Executive Project Manager in the NT Department of Lands, Planning and Environment, I lead complex land redevelopment projects and drive initiatives that improve the efficiency and timeliness of government approval processes. Land administration and development challenges are not just technical—they require empathy and judgment, and decision-making and engagement approaches to address community aspirations and concerns.
My Churchill Fellowship proposal integrates different aspects of my career: cross-cultural decision-making and collaboration, community development, and land governance. By investigating international models of early collaboration in land development projects, I aim to bring practical dispute-resolution frameworks back to Australia and the Northern Territory. My vision is to spark conversations across government, industry, and communities on how to harness diverse perspectives early—shaping land use planning and development processes that achieve sustainable, enduring outcomes and enhance our collective economic, social, and cultural well-being.
