Jessie Adams is committed to enhancing the health, wellbeing and safety of the Australian farming community, with a special focus on the safety of children on farms. Having grown up on her family’s beef farm in northeast Victoria, Jessie has a firsthand experience of a childhood on the farm and is passionate about what a rural upbringing offers. Now living and working in an agricultural community, she understands the deeply engrained cultures and unique challenges farming communities face.
In 2024, Jessie received her PhD from Deakin University, where her research focused on the injury risks and safety behaviours of children on Victorian farms. Jessie has presented her results at international conferences, published numerous academic journal articles, and been invited to speak on various podcasts about child farm safety. Jessie has also been involved in committees where she provided her expertise to advance the safety of children on farms.
Through her role as a researcher at the National Centre for Farmer Health, Jessie has also worked on numerous projects aiming to improve farmers lives. This has involved collaboration with various stakeholders including farmers, educators, health professionals, policymakers and industry bodies. Jessie also currently works in a rural health service as a Research Translation Coordinator, aiming to build research capacity within the rural health workforce. Jessie holds a degree in Public Health and Health Promotion (Hons) and Commerce from Deakin University.
