Lauren Brooks

I believe education has the power to transform lives by helping young people discover who they are, what they value and how they can contribute meaningfully to the world. That belief has been the driving force behind my career and continues to shape my leadership today.

My journey in education has taken me across diverse R–12 contexts in South Australia, New South Wales and the Northern Territory, where I have held leadership roles across junior, middle and senior schools. Working across different communities has reinforced my conviction that exceptional learning environments are built on strong relationships, high expectations and a deep commitment to the wellbeing of students and staff. It has also challenged me to think creatively, lead with empathy and remain focused on the long-term impact education can have on individuals and society.

In October 2023, I joined Saint Ignatius’ College as Principal. Since then, I have been committed to partnering with students, staff and families to shape the future of the College together. I am passionate about leading innovative, future-focused initiatives that strengthen student engagement, enhance learning outcomes and prepare young people for a rapidly changing world. I believe we must be discerning in our use of technology, embracing innovation where it enhances learning while protecting the relationships, experiences and sense of belonging that are essential to human flourishing.

Through my Churchill Fellowship, I hope to deepen my understanding of best-practice learning environments, learn from innovative approaches internationally and broaden my thinking through collaboration. I want to bring those insights home to continue shaping flourishing learning communities where every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
