Dr Stacey Hamilton is a scientist in the water industry for over 15 years (with a PhD in Chemistry from Curtin University) and is regarded as the technical expert for Australia’s first full-scale groundwater replenishment scheme. This scheme recycles wastewater into drinking water which is injected into Perth’s local aquifers. Stacey’s role includes hands on science as well as conducting tours for not only the community, regulators, technical personnel and international delegates. These days Stacey uses her experience from the groundwater replenishment scheme to improve operations and compliance for other water recycling applications as well as educating other utilities on our experience.

Stacey’s career within the water industry has been an extremely rewarding experience leading her to be an advocate for science as a career, collaborating with various government bodies, universities, water research partners and external consultancies. Stacey is an active member of various water and chemistry organisations, as well as being actively involved in research projects locally and internationally. This has allowed her to keep up to date with new science and technology innovations within Australia and worldwide within the indirect and direct potable reuse space.

Stacey has also been recognised for her leadership by her inclusion in the Xplore for Success Career Development Program and as a Fellow of the Peter Cullen Trust Science to Policy Leadership Program. Stacey’s leadership has also been sought via various mentoring programs. Stacey is also an accomplished athlete playing hockey at a State Representative level and gives back to the community through volunteering at her local hockey club.
