Taryn Lane is passionate about community-led climate transitions. Taryn is a Community Energy Advocate/Consultant and Manager at Hepburn Community Wind Farm. She is a Founding Director of RE-Alliance and the Coalition for Community Energy, as well as a director for the Smart Energy Coucil. Taryn is also the Director of Akin Consulting, working privately as a consultant undertaking policy development, research and advisory services. Taryn was a Policy Impact Program fellow in 2021.


Taryn was selected as an Impact Funding recipient in round 1 2023. Taryn’s project centres around the creation of the Community-led Climate Transition Handbook. Through this initiative, Taryn aims to equip communities with practical tools and knowledge to navigate the challenges posed by climate change and foster sustainable practices. The Handbook would explore electrification and energy transition, setting targets for renewables, methodologies for achieving targets and tracking progress and case studies and examples of community projects and programs, showcasing the diversity of approaches around Australia and globally.
