Churchill Fellow Cliff Coleman (2002) provided some reflections on Vanessa's life below:

Vanessa Crisp (2001 Churchill Fellow) was extensively known and admired for her art and calligraphy (lettering artist and designer) in our North Coast region of NSW, throughout Australia and beyond.  She taught many novices up to competency level in local schools, community groups and TAFE and acted as a consultant for professional artists and government groups.  Vanessa owned and ran ‘Paperbark Gallery, Evans Head’ that exhibited her work and pieces from other local artists.  The fine furniture created by her husband, Justin Crisp (1996 Churchill Fellow) was also displayed.

From day one my wife and I found her bubbly, fun, professional and full of ideas for any projects that required a ‘creative’ to produce.  Vanessa was a proud Australian reflected by her being an Australia Day ambassador and leaving a legacy of fine themed works including the renowned ‘The Legend of Gallipoli.’

Loving husband Justin and sons Jacob and Jordan, the three affectionately known as her triple ‘J’s’ are successful in their chosen fields and reflect the total adoration, administrative, creative and other life skills Vanessa has left with them. Vale Vanessa.
