To improve women's sexual and reproductive health by optimising Intrauterine Device (IUD) usage - Sweden, UK, USA
Download

Intrauterine devices (IUDs) have significant benefits for women of all reproductive ages

  • recommended as first line for managing heavy menstrual bleeding
  • prevent unwanted pregnancy for up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse
  • second most effective reversible contraceptive available
  • can assist with menopause management.

Australian women have low rates of use compared to women in many other countries. Plus I want to improve information and clinical services for women relating to IUDs, increase and improve training for General Practitioners and nurse inserters. I want to discover how overseas practitioners provide clinical and educational services to maximise these benefits for Australian women.
