To investigate strategies to support the secondary migration of refugees to regional and rural towns - Canada, USA, Germany, Norway, Sweden
Download

The project will explore how government, civil society, the not-for-profit and private sectors can work together to support the secondary migration of refugees from metropolitan areas to regional and rural towns. It is based on the assertion that refugees should have self-agency to make informed decisions about their own lives. The research aims to explore:

  • the key factors that influence a refugee's decision to relocate to a regional area
  • innovative strategies for connecting refugees with regional opportunities and supporting relocation
  • key challenges impacting on the regional retention of refugees and best practice responses to addressing these.
