The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (Churchill Trust), a company limited by guarantee, is a not-for-profit institution that was established in Australia in 1965 following the death of Sir Winston Churchill. It was formed with the principal objective of perpetuating and honouring Sir Winston’s memory. It does this by each year awarding over 100 Fellowships (including around 40 Sponsored Fellowships) to Australians from all walks of life.

The Fellowships offer recipients the opportunity to travel independently overseas, explore a topic they are knowledgeable and passionate about, and investigate and study the latest developments in their chosen field with a view to inspiring new ideas, innovation and excellence for the enrichment of Australian society.

As Chief Executive Officer, reporting to the Chair and Board, you will be responsible for driving and implementing the overall strategic direction of the Churchill Trust. You will play a central role in continuing to build on the high national and international regard for the Trust and its Fellows and for encouraging the further development of promising Australian citizens in their field of endeavour.

As a values based, collaborative leader, you will guide and mentor the staff team and oversight effective corporate governance, management of the day to day financial and business operations, including implementation of investment decisions, marketing and advocacy, and have the capacity to identify and effectively manage risk. You will also play a pivotal role in liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders in state and territory jurisdictions, sponsors, Fellows’ Associations, and with relevant government agencies. As a media spokesperson, you will represent and promote the Churchill Trust nationally and in a wide range of fora.

To be a strong contender for this important and rewarding role, you will need to demonstrate a proven record of organisational leadership and strategic vision, financial and commercial acumen, people management and excellent interpersonal skills. In addition, you will bring long term vision to ensure sustainability and high-level communication skills. You will have a genuine desire to promote excellence for the benefit of the community, which will strengthen your application.
