100 Everyday Australians Awarded Churchill Fellowships

A new group of 100 Churchill Fellows has been announced today—everyday Australians who will travel around the world in search of solutions to real-world problems.

From addressing mental health and aged care to promoting renewable energy, the topics reflect what matters most to local communities. Each Fellow will bring back knowledge and ideas that can genuinely make a difference across the country.

Now in its 60th year, the Churchill Trust was founded by over 200,000 volunteers in a nationwide doorknock appeal to honour the legacy of Sir Winston Churchill. That spirit of public service lives on in every new Fellow.

Churchill Fellowships are awarded to Australians from all walks of life—teachers, artists, nurses, scientists, and volunteers—who are driven by a desire to make change.

Christine Dacey, CEO of the Churchill Trust, said, “Our Fellows are everyday people doing extraordinary things. They’re curious, courageous, and deeply committed to their communities.”

A Churchill Fellowship is an opportunity for individuals to learn directly from world experts, visit leading programs overseas, and bring back ideas that work, said Christine Dacey, CEO of the Churchill Trust.

Fellows design their own itinerary and have the freedom to explore. What they bring home often sparks innovation, improves policy, and inspires new ways of doing things.

Past Churchill Fellows have created programs that touch the lives of Australians every day—like Crime Stoppers, Neighbourhood Watch, Unit Pricing in Supermarkets, Questacon, and even the Playschool theme song.

Each year, over 1,000 people apply. Around 100 are selected. Many apply more than once. Passion, persistence and purpose matter.

A Churchill Fellowship is for everyday Australians with extraordinary ideas. If you’re curious, determined and ready to make a difference, this could be your moment. Could 2026 be your year? Applications open in February 2026.
