On 14 May, 15 Churchill Fellows, along with family and friends, enjoyed a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Western Australian Herbarium.
Hosted by Dr Shelley James CF, 2023, a botanist and the Herbarium’s Collections Manager, we heard about her recent Fellowship at Cambridge University and her work to enhance access to Australia’s botanical collections. S
helley’s passion for digitisation and sharing biodiversity data is helping to connect collections across the globe. The event was also guided by Dr John Huisman and Dr Andrew Crawford, who shared insights into the Herbarium’s seed collection, preparation and storage processes — along with some incredible stories from across the state.
A big thank you to everyone involved for such an inspiring and memorable visit.
Being part of a Churchill Fellowship Alumni network is a continuing journey and an opportunity to get and give back!
