The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust is delighted to confirm a new sponsorship with the .au Domain Administration (auDA) to support research and development that uplifts the utility of the internet for all Australians.
The initiative will involve two Churchill Fellowships being funded in each of 2025, 2026 and 2027.
The auDA Churchill Fellowships will be open to people with a passion for delivering public benefit, and support research and development projects that explore the digital and internet landscape.
“This is an exciting new chance for global best practice to be identified, analysed and adapted for Australia,” said Churchill Trust CEO Christine Dacey.
“We are delighted to partner with auDA and look forward to seeing what amazing projects are supported through this initiative, beginning in 2025,” she said.
“auDA is thrilled to support the Churchill Trust and facilitate research into a vital enabling technology – the internet. We encourage individuals from the Australian internet community to consider this opportunity, including .au members and those from industry, non-profits, small business and education providers,” said auDA CEO, Bruce Tonkin.
A Churchill Fellowship offers Australian citizens and permanent residents a life-changing opportunity to travel overseas for four to eight weeks to learn more about a topic or issue that they are passionate about.
The auDA Churchill Fellowship program builds on auDA’s annual Community Grant Program for research education and community-based projects, and Research and Development Grant Program, which delivers multi-year funding for large-scale research and development projects.
About auDA: .au Domain Administration Limited (auDA) is the trusted administrator of the .au domain name system, which is Australian critical infrastructure, supporting more than 4 million .au domain names.
