Alphonsus was born and grew up on Larrakia Country in Darwin, Northern Territory (NT), Australia. Alphonsus is from mixed First Nations heritage, Aboriginal (Nyikina Western Australia) and Torres Strait Islander (Boigu Island) with some European/Malaysian lineages.

Alphonsus is a Senior Constable with the Northern Territory Police and an active voice in the advancement of First Nations employees to progress into positions of senior management.

He has over 20 years of Policing experience in the Commonwealth and State/Territory jurisdictions. He sits on several Northern Territory Government/Police internal committees linked to the Aboriginal Education and Employment Strategies. He also provides mentorship to First Nations employees across the Northern Territory Government and Police.

Recently Alphonsus returned from his Australian and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) Churchill Fellowship, where he travelled to Aotearoa New Zealand, the United States and Canada to investigate opportunities and Government and Non-Government organisation systems in place that assisted First Nations employees’ career pathways.

Alphonsus hopes to apply his findings to assist other Commonwealth/State and Territory Governments to reach their individual First Nations employee workforce targets and to address reforms in The Closing the Gap National Strategy. He also aims to organise/facilitate First Nations National and International Policing Conferences.
