The ANZSOG Churchill Fellowship to explore shared stewardship: Indigenous land management and self-determination in co-managed national parks

This project explores Indigenous-led co-management of national parks, with a focus on the integration of Indigenous land management knowledge, governance systems, and self-determination. The primary case study is Booderee National Park in Australia, co-managed by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community and Parks Australia. Comparative analysis will include co-managed parks in Canada and the United States. By examining these parks, the project seeks to identify best practices, common challenges, and pathways that enhance Indigenous self-determination through environmental stewardship.
