In an emergency, equipping the public with the right information at the right time can save lives by helping people make informed decisions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. However, some people experience barriers which make accessing official emergency information difficult. These may include language or cultural barriers, disabilities, remoteness, access to technology or socioeconomic factors. Providing accessible emergency information to all citizens is an area of clear focus for emergency management agencies across Australia. This project will gather international insights to inform improvements to emergency communication tools, techniques and procedures in Australia.
