To identify what legislative, regulatory and banking methods work in reducing online gambling harm featured image

Read my Graphic Report Executive Summary here.

In Australia, online gambling is the fastest growing gambling segment, with high levels of financial and social harm. Australia's Online Gambling Consumer Protection Framework (2018) is embryonic and basic. Australian state gambling regulators have limited powers of enforcement and inconsistent legislation. The project will involve learning from the UK, European, & USA experience. I will meet gambling regulators, academics, consumer advocates and mental health /suicide prevention organisations. I will also meet with Anti-Money Laundering regulators and visit a specialist gambling court in the US. In the UK I will meet with financial institutions that have measures to protect their customers who gamble.
