Report Summary
Matthew Mihaly's Fellowship focused on non-clinical factors associated with high pre-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates, travelling to the USA, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and the UK.
Matthew saw cutting-edge devices taking over compressions so rescuers can focus on other care, as well as examples of teenage students performing CPR confidently. The experiences learned overseas reinforced that saving lives from cardiac arrest is a team effort spanning all of society. Australia needs to instill lifesaving skills in our youth, embrace innovation, and nurture a data driven culture that values action, which can undoubtedly improve outcomes and spare more families the tragedy of losing a loved one prematurely.
