Listen to Eugene's Audio Report here
A circular economy seeks to retain the value of products, materials and resources for as long as possible through strategies including reuse, repair, adaptation, remanufacture and recycling. Australia remains one of the world's great resource nations, yet its circularity rate is low and its material footprint high.
This Fellowship investigated the enabling conditions that allow circular economies to thrive, drawing on experiences across the United States, United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands and Belgium. It explored the role of policy and regulation, investment, design and manufacturing, infrastructure, education, trust, collaboration and leadership, and how these conditions interact across a circular system.
Report Summary
The report findings identify opportunities for Australia to better connect, value and enable its existing capabilities while deliberately creating the conditions required for circularity to thrive.
