Milton Memorial Reserve Tour

Tour Leader, Dr Hilda Maclean (2007),  has studied cemeteries, funerary and mourning practices for over forty years. She has presented at many international conferences especially on the translation of burial and commemoration traditions of migrant communities to an Australian colonial setting.

Milton Memorial Reserve is nestled behind Christ Church in the shadow of the mighty Suncorp Stadium at Milton. The twenty or so headstones at the Milton Memorial Reserve were previously located in the adjacent North Brisbane Burial Grounds (1843 – 1875). Though small in number, the memorials capture the lives and deaths of a wide range of Brisbane’s earliest free citizens.

Attendees to wear closed in shoes suitable for walking in a garden setting.

Tour is limited to 20 people – please reserve your place on this tour when registering for the convention.
