SHARON GILCHRIST (2011)
Sharon Gilchrist (2011) was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to explore the role of nursing in paediatric comprehensive epilepsy programmes. With over 35 years cumulative nursing experience, Sharon currently work in the Neuroscience Department at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, with expertise in the nursing care and management of children with difficult to control epilepsy, including medication management, ketogenic diet, surgical work-up and vagal nerve stimulation. Sharon joined the CFAQ committee in 2019.

SUBJECT: MUSIC THERAPY
Gary Thorpe OAM (2011) has been the General Manager of Brisbane’s classical music FM station, 4MBS Classic FM, since 1989. He is also the General Manager of a digital station, MBS Light and a nostalgia radio station, Silver Memories.
Gary started Silver Memories in 2007 to address social isolation in the aged in the community. Silver Memories is now delivered by satellite to 150 aged care homes across Australia and to people at home through the Silver Memories app. Gary was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2011 to study the use of music in the management of dementia.
Gary has also been the Artistic Director of the 4MBS Festival of Classics, Australia’s largest classical music festival, since 1994 and the Producer of the 4MBS Brisbane Shakespeare Festival since 2007.

SUBJECT: MENTAL HEALTH OF REFUGEES
Greg Turner (2017) is a psychologist specialising in transcultural mental health since 1999 at state and national levels as an educator and manager, and in his own Global Community Consulting business providing clinical, training, supervision and psychological services. Greg is a co-founder of a social enterprise health service for refugees and asylum seekers and operated an Employee Assistance Program on Nauru for two years assisting refugee support workers.
Greg has published on migrant and refugee mental health. In 2017 he was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to explore ways to assist psychological adjustment of refugees in resettlement. He is currently in private practice.
MICHAEL POWER
SUBJECT: VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE
Michael Power (2016) is a social worker with experience in leadership, direct service provision, policy and legislation across mental health, victims services, child protection and family law.
He is Director of the Queensland Health Victim Support Service. In 2016 he received the Dorothy and Dr Brian Wilson Churchill Fellowship Award. He travelled in 2017 to the US, Calgary, England and the Netherlands to investigate the use of restorative practice in mental health services. Since then he has implemented Australia’s first trial of this innovative approach to respond to threats and incidences of violence in inpatient and community mental health services.

SUBJECT: 3D PRINTING
Associate Professor Chris Carty (2017) is the Manager of Orthopaedic Research at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Director of Research at Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals. His contributions to medical research and clinical service delivery have focussed on the application of engineering principles in the clinical management of patients with movement disorders across the lifespan. Chris has published over 60 articles in peer reviewed journals and presented at numerous international conferences. Chris is currently working on projects related to machine learning, 3D printing and predictive modelling to inform paediatric deformity correction surgery.
