LEEANNE BOND 

Leeanne Bond is a prominent engineering leader, passionate about project governance, innovation and entrepreneurship, gender equity and workplace diversity and inclusion. 

Leeanne is currently the independent non-executive chair of Mining3 and is a non-executive director of ASX listed Synertec Corporation Limited (ASX:SOP), Aurecon Group, Snowy Hydro Limited, Clean Energy Finance Corporation and QADO Group.  Leeanne has over 30 years corporate experience including as a professional company director and board member. Leeanne has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and MBA from The University of Queensland, is an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering. She was the first female President of Engineers Australia in Queensland in 2002 and was named Australian Professional Engineer of the Year in 2007. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Member of Chief Executive Women. 

Leeanne sponsors a scholarship for a first year female engineering student at The University of Queensland and is currently Chair of Chemeca – the annual chemical engineering conference in Australia and New Zealand – to be held in September 2021. She is a Queensland regional selector for Winston Churchill Fellowships and for Rhodes Scholarships. She is a passionate artist and contemporary jeweller and has recently opened a gallery for emerging artists. She has a 13 year old daughter.

KATHERINE WEBBER

SUBJECT: PUBLIC FACILITIES

Katherine Webber (2018) was the recipient of the 2018 Rodney Warmington Churchill Fellowship to increase inclusion and accessibility in public toilets by researching taboos, design, policy and legal barriers. Between March and May 2019 Katherine travelled to USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, The
Netherlands and Germany talking toilets.
Katherine is a practitioner in social planning and community development working to address inequality and social injustice. She has worked with a range of government and non-government programs to address social issues and achieve results, including in local and state government
social planning and community development in Australia and the Pacific.

KELLY HOPEWELL

SUBJECT: SEWERAGE SYSTEMS

Kelly Hopewell (2015) works to ‘change our world’ in her role at the City of Gold Coast and as the Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Biosolids Partnership.  She has a degree in Environmental Science and Masters of Engineering Practice and has worked in the water industry for over 20 years.  Whilst the need to provide high quality sewage treatment has been appreciated for decades, novel and exciting technologies to provide efficient ways to produce high quality recycled water and biosolids are ever-emerging.  Kelly’s fellowship took her to sewage treatment plants in the UK, USA and Chile.  

JORGEN GULLESTRUP

SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY SUICIDE

Jorgen Gullestrup (2017) is a 2017 Churchill Fellow who travelled to Europe and the USA to investigate workplace and industry approaches to mental health and suicide prevention.  Born in Denmark he migrated to Australia in 1988 and worked on several construction sites as a plumber.  After 13 years as a Union official he became the project officer on the Queensland Construction Industry’s Suicide Prevention Project in 2007 which later become the MATES in Construction organisation today operating in two countries, four states and across three industries.

Jorgen is a Qualified Plumber, holds a Master’s degree in Suicidality and received Suicide Prevention Australia’s 2018 LIFE Award for Leadership in suicide prevention.

ZOE EATHER

SUBJECT: SMART COMMUNITY

Zoe Eather (2018) is an un-traditional engineer, a millennial and a Winston Churchill Fellow with a passion for Smart Cities, Smart Communities and Smart Regions. This is not just in the big cities, but using technology and Smart ways of thinking as enablers to make the places we live more accessible, livable and sustainable for all.
