Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be knee-high to a giraffe? And then come face-to-face with the world’s tallest living mammal as they take a carrot from your hands?

This tour is an amazing opoprtunity to marvel at the size of these magnificent creatures and learn all about Adelaide Zoo’s ginormous giraffes.

Adelaide Zoo, is home to more than 2,500 animals and 250 species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles and fish exhibited over eight hectares of magnificent botanic surroundings. It is the second oldest zoo in the nation and represents a significant part of South Australia’s heritage and social history.

Enjoy an intimate zoo experience speckled with elements of curiosity, fantasy, fun and surprise. Adelaide Zoo is the only major metropolitan zoo in Australia to be owned and operated by a conservation charity, Zoos SA.

Join Churchill Fellow, Sarah Brown, Director Community Engagement, Zoos South Australia, to enjoy a meet and greet with our three giraffes followed by a walking tour.  Visit the home of the Southern Hemisphere’s only Giant Pandas and take your time to soak up the beautiful gardens and learn more about the ambassador species on site.


Please arrive at 11am at the zoo. You are required to wear a Zoos SA supplied face mask – no exemptions due to animal welfare.

First stop will be experiencing a giraffe feed at 11.30am – this is a great photo opportunity – followed by a walking tour of the zoo or just enjoy it at your own pace.

Price for entry fee and giraffe feed is $25.25 pp (normally $57 – payment due when you register).

Places limited – maximum 20 participants.  Wear comfortable, closed toe shoes.
