Join Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Co-Patron, Professor Tom Calma AO and Board Director, Shona Reid, for a discussion with Dr Jared Thomas and Alphonsus Shields about their Churchill Fellowship journey, their research and aspirations for the future.

Professor Tom Calma AO is an elder of the Kungarakan tribal group, and member of the Iwaidja tribal group and has spent his life tirelessly championing the rights, responsibilities and welfare of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

Ms Shona Reid is a proud Eastern Arrernte woman with cultural connections in both South Australia and the Northern Territory. Shona is a SA Guardian for Children and Young People and has devoted her knowledge, experience, professional and personal life to the advancement and rights of Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities over two decades.

A Nukunu person of the Southern Flinders Ranges, Dr Jared Thomas (CF 2019) is the South Australian Museum and University of South Australia Research Fellow – Aboriginal Material Culture and Arts. His Fellowship investigated colonised people’s interpretative strategies in cultural institutions.

Alphonsus Shields (CF 2019) was born and grew up in Darwin, Northern Territory (NT), he is of mixed First Nations heritage with some European/Malaysian lineages. His passions and focus are advancing First Nations peoples to promote into Senior Government positions.
