Mrs Patricia New and Mr Gerald Frank New have sponsored Churchill Fellowships since 1996. Sadly, Mr New passed away in 2000 after suffering for many years from Alzheimer’s Disease. During his illness Mrs New was his principal carer for eight years and as a result, Mrs New developed a close interest in the issues surrounding Alzheimer’s Disease especially that of dementia care and carer support.
The New's decided to sponsor a Churchill Fellowship which looks at the subject of a national carers’ register and / or a national sufferers’ register and to study the issue of training carers for Dementia/ Alzheimer sufferers. The News also have a great passion for classical music and voice and have been very generous in supporting Fellowships in this field. Mrs New continues to be a wonderful supporter of the Trust.
