Luke Kerridge is a theatre maker and director specialising in creating transformative theatre for young audiences. Driven by a deep belief in the power of imagination to inspire change in young people’s lives, Luke’s work highlights the profound impact that quality storytelling can have on future generations.
As the former Artistic Director of Barking Gecko Theatre in Perth and Artistic Associate of both St Martins Youth Arts Centre in Melbourne and Shopfront Arts Co-op in Sydney, Luke is a leader in Australia’s Youth Arts landscape. His extensive experience as a Director and Teaching Artist has seen him collaborate with thousands of children nationally, crafting theatre by, with, and for young people in a diverse range of contexts, from classrooms to major arts festivals.
Luke’s works for young audiences have reached children far and wide—from the Pilbara, to the Sydney Opera House, to the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival. Notable works include: Night Night (The Last Great Hunt/Perth Festival), HOUSE (Barking Gecko/Perth Festival), The Great Un-Wondering of Wilbur Whittaker (Barking Gecko), CICADA (Barking Gecko/Sydney Theatre Company), and the Helpmann Award-winning Bambert’s Book of Lost Stories.
Luke’s works have earned numerous accolades, including AWGIE Awards, a Drama Victoria Award, a Green Room Award, and a prestigious Helpmann Award.
He holds a postgraduate degree in Performance Creation (Directing) from the Victorian College of the Arts.
