Associate Professor (Dr) David Och, Chartered Geologist and Technical Director of Geology (NSW Tunnels - Lead) with WSP Australia, has recently completed his Winston Churchill Fellowship on studying the world's best practices in Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, and the UK. David's research focused on developing a sustainable national or statewide GIS-based geotechnical database to capture present data for future use. With over 25 years of experience, David has delivered practical engineering solutions for a wide range of tunnel projects in road and rail transport, including designing recent tunnel projects and associated underground excavations in rock and soft ground conditions in Sydney.

David is a member of several collaborative teams conducting research on faults and dyke systems in NSW with local and international universities and government agencies. He also lectures in geology, supervises and mentors students at various universities across Australia. Additionally, David is a volunteer with the Geological Society of Australia, coaching junior riders on the velodrome at the Bankstown Sports Cycling Club, and participating in STEM programs that assist school students with geosciences. He has also contributed to the prevention of respirable silica issues related to construction and assists Winston Churchill Fellow Kate Cole OAM when requested.
