Anne Hooker is the Youth Development Officer at Port Phillip Prison. Having had 29 years experience in working with offenders both in Community Corrections as a Parole Officer and a Manager, she is responsible for the design and implementation of a suicide and self harm prevention programme for young offenders aged between eighteen and twenty-five years who have never been to jail before. A major component of the activities at the unit where Anne works within Port Phillip Prison is the meaningful programmes she has designed to address offence related issues and raise self esteem in young offenders. Anne's unit also uses 'prisoner mentors' that are older prisoners hand picked and trained to fulfil mentoring roles in a structured fully accountable manner. Anne has been a finalist in the Telstra Women’s Business Awards 2009 and 2010 and was listed in the Age 100 most influential people list in December 2010.
