She was the Registrar of Stock & Apiaries and Manager for Livestock Identification and Traceability for the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development until April 2023. Beth looked for strategies that will achieve higher visibility and proactive cooperation with industry and the public with the regulations for protection of the domestic and international human and livestock populations, to reduce risk and better manage emergencies. The benefits of this go well beyond agriculture, as the export markets for our products are significant contributors to the national economy as a whole. Beth continues to focus on this now in her own business, mAGnify Agriculture Global, using her experience to assist producers, industries and governments in strengthening the platforms for livestock biosecurity and traceability and to increase awareness and understanding of consumers of the unseen effort that goes into providing the food and fibre in the quality and quantities that everyone automatically expects to be available.
Beth completed the ‘Managing regulation, enforcement and compliance’ study course run by Professor Malcolm Sparrow of Harvard University. She is the WA technical area expert for the application and interpretation of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management (Identification and Movement of Stock and Apiaries) Regulations 2013 and is recognised for her knowledge nationally, particularly with sheep, goats, cattle and pigs. Beth was an active member of several national committees, the Jurisdictional Traceability Group and the SAFEMEAT Advisory Group and remains available to contribute as required.
