Dannae Campbell is a process safety expert with extensive experience in the development and implementation of major hazard facility safety case regulation and assessment. In fulfilling this role, she achieves her ambitions of protecting the community from large scale catastrophic chemical incidents.

Dannae has an amazing curiosity and passion for the application of chemical risk management strategies as applies to the emerging renewable energy industries and acts as a recognised subject matter expert, with a particular focus on hydrogen, ammonia and biofuels.

In her current role as the Principal Process Safety Analyst for WorkSafe Victoria, Dannae mentors and provides leadership to colleagues and stakeholders in risk management within high hazard industries, including the planning, leading and management of safety case assessments which provide Victoria’s most hazardous facilities their licence to operate.

Dannae is a member of the Victorian Renewable Energy Regulator Taskforce and has represented WorkSafe Victoria at forums, including the National Major Hazard Facility Forum and Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Hazards Australasia Conference.

Dannae holds an Honours Degree in Chemical Engineering and Post Graduate qualifications in Safety Management. As a passionate champion for Women in STEM Dannae regularly supports and participates in Chemical engineering student information nights as coordinated by the IChemE.

The focus of Dannae’s Churchill Fellowship is to investigate the regulatory best practice on safe handling of hydrogen and ammonia at large scale in order to ensure the transition to chemical renewables is safe for the community. This project spans across regulators, industry and the general public, because safe workplaces deliver community safety, through reduced major hazard incidents. When facilities can safely manage their risks, the local communities around the facilities are safer and more prosperous. With better regulation, industry has certainty for decision making in investments.
