Judge Kylie Beckhouse is passionate about family law. She has delivered family law services for over 25 years in different capacities from lawyer, to legal manager to judicial officer. Kylie is currently a Judge at Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Before her appointment she was an accredited specialist in family law and an independent children's lawyer. She was the Director – Family Law with Legal Aid NSW between May 2009 and December 2020. She holds a Bachelor of Law from Macquarie University. Recognised as the 2017 NSW Women's Lawyer of the Year for services to women and the law. A Churchill Fellow, in 2016 she published her research into the administration of child legal representation schemes internationally. She is also a graduate of the NSW Public Sector Leadership Academy, with a record of achievement in delivering reform and change in the legal assistance sector, especially in the delivery of family violence legal services. Kylie has served on the Family Law Council of Australia and the NSW Children's Court Advisory Committee and as well as many other committees, boards and advisory groups during her career. Her specialities include family law, child representation, family violence, dispute resolution, legal management and public administration.
