Nicholas Wood is a staff specialist general paediatrician and Associate Professor in the Discipline of Child and Adolescent Health at the University of Sydney. He is Associate Director of Clinical research at the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Survellance (NCIRS), based at The Children's Hospital at Westmead

 

Nick previously held an NHMRC Career Development Fellowship. He leads the NSW Immunisation Specialist Service and coordinates the Immunisation Adverse Events Clinic at the Children's Hospital at Westmead. Nick is interested in maternal and neonatal immunisation, as well as research into vaccine safety, including genetics and long-term outcomes of adverse events following immunisation.

 

Associate Professor Wood will use the fellowship opportunity to engage and collaborate with international experts in the USA, Canada and Switzerland to improve clinical advice on and management of vaccine reactions for the Australian community. IHe will specifically understand how these countries operate their vaccine injury compensation schemes and will bring this new knowledge back to Australia.
