Dr Rami Al-Dirini is passionate about research in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering. His research combines in-vitro experiments, medical/high-resolution imaging with multiscale computational (micro- and macro- finite element (FE)) modelling to:

(i) comprehensively evaluate novel and improve existing prostheses designs, and

(ii) study biomechanical injuries such as bone fractures, pressure sores and ligament tears. These injuries affect a diverse range of patients including young athletes, the elderly population, patients with OA, diabetics, wheelchair users and bed-ridden patients. Though his research, Dr Al-Dirini aspires to improve injury prevention, care and treatment.

Dr Al-Dirini manages collaborations with national international academics and industry partners including Orthopedic implant manufacturers (DePuy Synthes, Zimmer Biomet, Amplitude and 360 Med Care), rehabilitation technology providers (Novitatech) Automotive parts producers(Futuris Automotives), regulatory bodies (TGA - Australia) and healthcare providers (Royal Adelaide Hospital and Orthotics and Prosthetics South Australia) with a strong focus on prosthetic design.
