Dr Rosie Nash believes that health literacy could be the answer to poor health outcomes, health inequity, educational attainment, and social inequity in Tasmania and across the Globe. Working as a pharmacist in hospitals and the community for over 15 years she has witnessed firsthand the importance of health literacy assets, health literacy responsive organizations and the importance of building health literacy capacity within communities.


Rosie is a 2020 Churchill Fellow who visited England, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Germany, France, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and the World Health Organization headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland to collaborate with health literacy peers and their networks to explore whether health literacy is a health, community or education issue.


Rosie is the CEO of HealthLit4Everyone. HealthLit4Everyone is a newly formed social enterprise that aims to improve health literacy outcomes, mitigating health and social inequities for children, families and communities locally and globally through education, consultation and advocacy activities.​


Whilst waiting to travel on her Churchill Fellowship, Rosie invited her international peers to contribute to her book titled Global perspectives on children’s health literacy: intersections between health, education and community. The book includes 19 Country Chapters from Afghanistan, Africa, Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Denmark, England, Germany, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Northern Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Taiwan, United States of America, Wales. This book will be published in 2024.


Rosie co-founded HealthLit4Kids in 2016, determined to equip more Tasmanians with the asset of health literacy and redress inequity. Since she has grown her research team and secured funding in order to provide more children and their communities with the opportunity to develop health literacy assets. Rosie is a generous and authentic leader who is passionate about making a difference in her community.


Rosie is a Pharmacist, Senior Lecturer in Public Health, Regional Editor for the Health Promotion Journal of Australia and Board member for the Alcohol Tobacco and Drug Council (Tasmania). She has been recognized as an international leader in child and adolescent health literacy research.


Rosie holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours and a PhD from the University of Tasmania.
