Tim Bevitt is a professional performing artist and teacher with over 25 years experience in the field.


Known professionally as ‘Mr Tim’, He has a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the ANU (2001) and a Diploma of Education from University of Canberra (2002). 


During this time he has created original performing arts programs, performed at numerous festivals and events with his rock band for kids (Mr Tim and the Fuzzy Elbows), conducted choirs, composed music for events, education, promotions and coordinated events and programs. He has also created his own business with his wife Nathalie Bevitt, running workshops, performances and professional learning opportunities for teachers, parents and students. 


He is especially renown for his “Extravaganza program” a performance program taking entire school bodies of 500 people and then rehearsing the students and teachers to perform a quality, original concert for the public in only FOUR days.


In 2016 Tim was commissioned by the ACT department of health alongside ‘The food detective’ to create a stage show and EP to promote healthy eating in schools.


In 2017 Tim was commissioned to write and professionally record a song for the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) for their national education program on democracy.


In 2018 & 2019& 2020 Tim and Nathalie Bevitt were commissioned to create, rehearse and direct two professional children’s musicals written in collaboration with children aged 5-13yrs over two six month periods as part of the Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s programming.


At the end of 2019 Tim was honoured to be awarded The 2019 Gilbert Spottiswood Churchill Fellowship for investigating intergenerational play for building cohesive communities.

 

Tim is in high demand as an artist for his engagement skills working with people of all ages and abilities as well as a leader in professional learning for teaching and advocating for the performing arts. Tim is a strong advocate for creativity and play in all areas of the community.
