A former management consultant and economist by training, Yara Vasina has been working in the international education industry since 2014, covering roles in international strategy, education marketing, alumni engagement, business development, scholarship programmes, student recruitment, and global mobility programs. She has obtained extensive professional and academic experience in leading Australian universities (UTS and UNSW).

Currently, Yara is developing new opportunities for UTS students in global mobility and experiential learning to enable equitable, effective and inclusive learning environments. She also enjoys teaching emerging leaders and meeting inspirational students from around the world, and luckily being a university academic and working in the tertiary education sector allows that.

A passionate supporter of the educational value and personal and professional growth achieved by participants in learning abroad programs, Yara's work has a strong focus on equity, social justice, and inclusion of diverse participants in learning abroad programs. In 2020 she has pivoted inaugural virtual global programs in Australia and is keen to expand her knowledge in this area by undertaking the Churchill Fellowship.

In addition to her day job, Yara has also been part of the numerous board and committees, including serving as a committee member for The Forum on Education Abroad’s inaugural working group on online global learning and IEAA Learning Abroad Forums, member of the Lincoln University Australia Academic Board, Professionals in International Trade (PIT) Executive Board, Co-chair of NSW Young Professional Network of International Education Association of Australia (IEAA), and the United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) Young Professionals Advisory Board.

Masters qualified, Yara is fluent in Russian and French and has work experience in Australia and Eastern Europe.
