The Bob and June Prickett Churchill Fellowship to examine how involving young people in decision-making can help address rising mental ill-health featured image
Mental health is a growing concern in Australia, with a staggering 75% of mental health conditions emerging before the age of 25. This makes young people the key demographic to address this issue. While advisory mechanisms exist, young voices are seldom heard in decision making rooms due to their age and limited experience. This project will learn from successful models upskilling and involving young people and communities with lived experience in decision making, governance and budgetary allocation. A practical guide will be created from these lessons and shared with organisations and governments to help them involve young people in decision making, improving mental health outcomes for the whole community.
