Written, spoken and visual health messages may not be understood when disseminated by health providers to people with communication difficulties, especially in culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Health providers have their own medical language and communication styles. This communication disconnect affects health services aimed at eliminating health inequities for vulnerable people. Health messaging created specific to the cultural, linguistic, environmental, and historical situation of individuals and communities will engage and build a shared vocabulary. This will engage health providers and communities to overcome obstacles to accessing healthcare.
