In the past there has been poor uptake of Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) around the world, except for in New Zealand. PD is a home therapy undertaken by patients independent or with limited assistance from nursing/medical staff. This project aims to study the Chronic Kidney Disease education provided and training practices of Peritoneal Dialysis Renal Units in New Zealand, North America and Canada with majority patients being 1st nation indigenous, living rural or remote. The information obtained would assist Peritoneal Dialysis Units in Australia to alter current practice to encourage the uptake of PD where majority patients are 1st nation indigenous required to undertake dialysis in the future.
