The Gallaugher Bequest Churchill Fellowship to investigate effective strategies to minimise casualties during school attacks featured image
Visit American and New Zealand schools that have experienced significant attacks to understand the most effective strategies to minimise casualties with specific focus on five areas: schools design and features, safety culture, training (practice/drills), reunification arrangements (students and staff with families), partnerships with local police. Australian schools are soft targets due to their diversity in design and inexperience (thankfully). While there is scholarly literature related to school attacks, there is little contemporary, practical guidance for schools that will minimise casualties.
